Atlassian Rovo

Conversational AI for work

Timeline

12 weeks, Jun - Sep 2026

Role

Product Designer

Process

Competitive analysis, prototyping, iteration, implementation review

Tools

Figma, Replit, Cursor

I interned at Atlassian in summer 2026, working on the Rovo Chat design team designing features for Rovo, Atlassian’s cross-platform AI tool for enterprise teams. The features I designed involved improving user trust and supporting agentic capabilities for knowledge work to create Atlassian Artifacts in Rovo, features that launched on-stage at the company’s bi-annual conference Team EU ‘26.

My responsibilities included iterating on design concepts and interactive prototypes, collaborating closely with engineering and product to refine, deliver, and implement designs.

Reflections

Over the course of my summer, I learned and grew immensely working with a wonderful team of design and product folks. Here were some of my biggest takeaways:

  • When in doubt, go back to the basics! Rovo Chat was a fast-moving team, and I was surrounded by talented senior designers who seemed to be able to make decisions quickly based on intuition. When it felt like I didn’t know what to do, I found how useful it was to reframe my thinking: sketching on paper, brainstorming widely, and balancing possible solutions before converging.
  • Challenge a solution that’s handed to you. PRDs might not always be developed with input from design. When necessary, be willing to challenge whether the proposed solution is truly the best way to solve the problem at hand.
  • Design for the system, not for a part. It’s exciting to be a part of something that ships, but features don’t exist in isolation; think deeply about how something fits into the larger whole and the future imagined for our users.
